Family Tree

Today I'm sharing something special that I made my parents for Christmas.

At the base of the tree I hand embroidered my grandparents names, on the trunk I embroidered my parents names and each of the branches represents the kids and grandkids to my parents. I used my embroidery machine to embroider all the names on the leaves and the whole thing is appliqued to the background and I free motion quilted around the tree.

My mom cried when she opened it, and made my dad hang it on the wall right away!

Here's a link back to my list. This is part of #11 from my list!

#6

The American Patchwork and Quilting UFO Challenge, released what UFO to work on for the month of January.

Here's my #6.

And here is what it looks like now:

I resewed the row that was bothering me, added some borders. My 12 year old said to straight line quilt it so did that and it's done. And it's not even 2017 yet!!

Color Book

Today I am sharing the color book I made for my nephew Eli.

The pattern can be found here.

It's very similar to the one I made my son, which you can see here.

I would love to make my son an ABC book with novelty fabric as the letters and each fabric have something that represents that letter, like A has apple fabric, B has bears.. but I don't enough fabric to do this yet. I'm going to have to sort through what I have and see...

Bags, bags and more bags

Here is the first of a few Christmas gift posts.

Today I'm sharing the bags I made for my nieces.

This is for the one that loves purple.

The niece that this one went to changes her mind about colors all the time.

This one's favorite color is black. So I added red and played with a disappearing 9 patch. It's a little smaller than the rest, but she loves it.

This is for my niece that likes teal. One of my daughters really loved this bag, but she has one I made her already!

Here's the pattern .

UFO 2017 Challenge

I decided to join in the American Patchwork and Quilting UFO 2017 Challenge.

This baby quilt has just been made a priority. The baby isn't due til April 1st, but just found out today that the baby shower is the end of January.

Road quilt I'm designing for my youngest son.

I Spy quilt. I want to add a border onto this one yet.

A jelly roll race quilt I did a few years ago. One side is about 4-6" shorter than the other side. Not sure what to do with this one.

A mini quilt. Not sure if I want to make it a wall hanging or give it to the girls for their dolls.

A wall hanging I started and was disappointed in because the one point doesn't quite line up. Not so disappointing now that I haven't looked at it for a year!

Sewing machine cover that I never finished.

And this crazy quilt I started 4 years ago. Not exactly sure what I want to do with this.

Also on my list is finishing my Project Life Albums for 2015 and 2016, my 100 block rainbow cat quilt, and my splendid sampler quilt.

Weekend of Splendid Sampler Sewing

I spent the weekend Sewing for my Splendid Sampler-I think I'm at 65 blocks done!!

This one is a bonus block for back to school. I made mine a white board, since it seems that all the classrooms at my kids school have these high tech white boards in there classrooms.

Here is block #77 Prism.

Block #78 Jersey

Block #83 Minnesota Maze

Block #86 Unity Star

Block #76 Little Things

Block #72 Full Circle Star

Block #64 Rising Star

Block #66 Happy Thoughts

Block #53 Whirling in Circles

Block #59 Circle of Friendship . This one I thought would kindof look like a surise with the blue and green behind it and a yellow circle. I also pieced the circle fused heat n bond to the back trimmed it some and fused it to the background stripes and than appliqued stitch around it.

Thursday was one of my girls is birthday, when she came home from school I showed her this block and said I made you a birthday cake! (I had also made a chocolate cake for her). She wasn't too impressed with the fabric cake!

Block #79Spool of Inspirational Threads

The more blocks I make the more excited I get to see this quilt all together. And I have all kinds of ideas for new sampler quilts!!

Christmas Paper Challenge

In one of my Facebook Groups, they are having a challenge to create a Christmas kit with 100 papers/embellishments. When I first started pulling from my stash I didn't think I would get anywhere near 100 items.

But before I knew it I had this

, this

this,

and this.

I have: 3- 12"x 12" papers, 5- 8.5"x11" papers, 7-8"x8" papers, 59-6"x6" papers, 2-4"x6" papers, 44-4"x6" PL cards, 62-3"x4" PL cards, 14-3"x4" papers, plus a bunch of embellishments. Total 196 papers plus a bunch of embellishments!!!!

Since my 15 year old decided he is going to make homemade apple pies for both Grandparents house for Thanksgiving, I put my machine away this morning and made this page with this Christmas stash.

Still along way to go to get through my Christmas stash, but it's a start.
