Color book progress

I've completed a few more pages for the 2 color books I'm making.

I have to make the back pages and the front. Going to need to pull out the embroidery machine soon.

Making Templates

I watched a video by Whitney sews about making your own plastic templates from patterns. I decided I would do that to my memory bears pattern since I've already made 6 bears from the pattern and have been asked to make 5 more memory bears.

So I went to Dollar tree and bought:

I then placed my pattern pieces under the plastic and traced around them with a permanent marker.

Then I cut out the plastic pieces.

Now I have a sturdy template of memory bears pattern to use.

Firestarters

We always go camping right around our anniversary. So today I decided I better make some homemade firestarters to bring with.

These are easy to make, old candles, sawdust, and an empty egg carton.

We have a few ideas of where we want to go, but nothing is decided for sure. I'll guess we'll decide while we are driving.

Baby Gift

My sister's baby shower was yesterday. She's had a few miscarriages and now she is expecting a baby girl in April.

Here's the gift we brought for the shower.

My sister mentioned these burp cloths, so I whipped these two up a couple days before the shower. I was hoping to make a batman one to, but I couldn't find my yellow flannel, maybe I used it all.

My Brother-in-Law likes batman, so I made 2 batman bibs. I got to practice on my embroidery machine!

My sister loves elephants. This is a taggie toy made with some leftover fabric from this quilt that I gave to her a few months ago.

I found a simplicity pattern in my stash for pj's. I seen the 1/2 size and assumed it was 6 months. Nope-it's 3t.

Here's an elephant bib I made for her. (The pacifier says #Spoiled)

And I guess I don't have a closeup picture of the headband I made, and the cards picture was taken with my phone, so I'll share that later.

Now I know my ABC's.

So my blog has been a little bit quiet while I've been working on a ABC book for my youngest:

This is a huge book. I used this pattern.

But I added batting in between the pages since I thought it was too floppy and than I sewed the binding, instead of button holes. I didn't think my button foot would survive going through the batting.

A and B (I think Bear needs something)

C and D (Dog ears folded)

E and F. E is an envelope to tuck stuff into.

Happy Birthday!

I decided to make some cards with my scraps of scrapbook paper. I think it will be fun for my nieces and nephews to receive mail on their birthdays.

I plan on getting my scraps out again this next week and making more cards, and some valentine cards too!

Emoji's

One of my girls really loves emoji's. So while they were on Christmas break we designed these.

We took a yard of yellow fleece, and some black, white, red and blue felt and sewed them up. I used a round cake pan as a template for the circles.

Embroidered Pillowcase

#9 on my list is now complete.

This is the pillowcase my MIL asked me to make for an Aunt. I'm thinking I might make one for my MIL for Christmas. We'll see if I can get to it with all my other projects going on...

Quilt

It has been a long time since I've blogged. The kids are back in school and it's just me and a very ACTIVE 2 year old at home. Here's my daughter Madyson's quilt that I blogged about quite a while ago.

I did all the quilting for this one on my home sewing machine!

I made the label with my embroidery machine. (I need to get this machine out more and practice!)

I used this pattern.

The fabric is from a layer cake I won from Happy Quilting quite a while ago. I added the gray to it.

What I'm working on...

I'm finally working on quilting a quilt top I've had done forever!!

I'm half way done!! I want to keep working but my arms and shoulders are SORE!

Maybe one day I will own a long arm machine and won't have to quilt this way! Linking to:Sarah and Amanda.

I picked up a book at the library the other day.

I have over 5 years worth of Family Fun magazines so I spent this morning making some envelopes.

A hat

I made my youngest a hat.

But then I couldn't stop at just one.

This little boy loves his hats.
